3 - Myelocytt (1000X)
- Stage 1 - Myeloblast
- Stage 2 - Promyelocyte
- Stage 3 - Myelocyte
- Stage 4 - Metamyelocyte
- Stage 5 - Band neutrophil
- Stage 6 - Segmented neutrophil
The myelocyte is characterized by:
- The nucleus has small dense spots of chromatin and contains no nucleoli
- The cytoplasm is lighter and with different types of grains (azurophilic and "specific" grains)
- The azurophilic grains contain myeloperoxidase, acid phosphatase and hydrolytic enzymes.
- The specific grains which are the mostabundant contain alkaline phosphatase and lysozyme.
