Tendon - cross section (overview)

This section shows a cross-section of a tendon, which consists of dense regular connective tissue. Compare it with the longitudianel section of a tendon to get a sense of how the tendon appears in three dimensions.

Notice the segmentation of the pink areas and the small dark dots. What could these be?
