Satellite glial cells of a spinal ganglion (400X)

At 40x magnification more details appear. Within the neuron itself you can even see rough endoplasmic reticulum (small grains) floating in the cytoplasm, nuclear membrane, nucleus and nucleolus. Satellite glial cells surround the nerve cell body (neuron). These cells support the cell bodies of neurons found in the spinal ganglia. Notice the cross section of an axon (blue arrow).
