This is a closeup of the neurons comprising the dorsal root ganglion. The Neurons should be easy to spot in this image as well as the axons (cut longitudinally) that form a wavy bands of pink threads.

Satellite glial cells cover the surface of neuron cell bodies. An envelope of multiple satellite glial cells completely surrounds each sensory neuron. Current theories suggest that satellite glial cells have a significant role in controlling the microenvironment of the sympathetic ganglia.
