Oral side of the soft palate (100X)

On the oral side of the soft palate we find the lamina propria containing vascular beds and excretory ducts, while on the nasal side we find numerous mucous- and a few serous glands and nasal epithelium. On the oral side of the soft palate, the glands are of the mucous type and they are mainly located within the submucosa. If you look closely, you'll find bundles of skeletal muscle and some connective tissue.
